Mindset 83

Mindset
by C.L. Harmon
We divide ourselves from those we love by the choices we make everyday. By our choice to hold a grudge and not forgive, by our choice to put ourselves above others and by our choice to accuse before asking, we build walls that often become to thick to penetrate.
That wall becomes separation that is not just absence of a person from our presence but more a curse of the heart that causes those close to us to drift away until finally becoming strangers.
By our choice to always talk and never listen, we further that separation and become isolated from those whom we want to hear us the most, but by simply listening, we actually tell them that what matters to them matters to us. It is through making this type of choice that we then begin to understand that our heart will grow so close to their heart that there will no longer be space left for walls to be built between us.

  1. Well put, Clinton! Generally those who are thought to be great conversationalists are really just good listeners.
